Grey skies are going to clear up...

Allow me to start today's post with a few comments...
First of all, in Becky's defense, let me make it clear that she did NOT throw up last night. (no worries, Kristin) She was dizzy and nauseous and went to bed early. On her way from the dining room to the cabin, she said she HEARD a lot of people throwing up (TMI?), but she was not one of them.
Secondly, we welcome all comments, but please include your name if you are signed on as "anonymous". It took us a while to put names with comments and we're still not sure we figured it out.
Lastly, I have updated yesterday's post with the tour of our cabin. This will be the last video I will post until I get home. It takes a very long time to upload the video, and these internet minutes are pricey. Enjoy!

Now...on with our day.
We started today pretty early. The sunrise was magnificent. I promise this picture does not do it justice.
After going to the Unicorn Cafe for a buffet breakfast (scrambled eggs, grits, fruit for me; scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns for Becky), we decided to go a shopping seminar. They have a couple of people on board who are the shopping experts and tell you where all the hot spots are for getting the best deal. Of course with everything tax-free and duty-free, shopping for jewelry is a very big deal around here. Neither one of us are really in the market for fine jewelry, but the seminar did offer a free gift for attending, so of course we went.

The rest of the morning just slipped away from us, and the next thing we knew it was time for lunch. I opted for pizza and a salad, and Becky had a ham & cheese sandwich and salad. After lunch, we realized that we hadn't even been outside today, but it turns out we really weren't missing much. The temperature has been around 75 degrees, but it's been super cloudy all day.

Being on the water also makes it pretty breezy, so it wasn't a really good pool day. (Although, that didn't deter one guy in his 60's from showing up for lunch in his speedo. Can you say YUCK! If he wants to wear a speedo, that's his business, but if he brings it into the lunch buffet, it becomes mine.)

I have to say that our bubbles were burst when we checked out the famous Carnival water slide. I had pictured it to be similar to the traditional water slides that dump you into a shallow pool at the end. Um...not so here. The slide curves around and just sort of ends at the back of the deck. When you finish your ride, you just stand up, step over a ledge and walk down some steps onto the deck. I took a few photos to show you.

This afternoon, we decided to participate in a few of the on-board activities. I joined a slot tournament and qualified for the final round. Although I finished in 8th place, I won a Carnival Player's Club t-shirt (notice the date is wrong on the shirt). Becky decided to play Bingo and won a round. Unfortunately, so did 6 other people, so she had to share the pot. Her take was $20. We're both winners (but you all new that)!!

True to her word, Becky went to the gym with me. It's not easy walking on a treadmill on a rocking ship. It doesn't burn any additional calories, but it does add a level of difficulty.

Tonight was "Elegant Night" for dinner. Almost everyone was gussied up in their finest duds.

Anyone who didn't want to dress for dinner could eat at the Unicorn Cafe or order room service. The "missing" ladies from our table showed up tonight, but they were from Chihuahua, Mexico and didn't speak English. One of the IL girls didn't show because she didn't want to be formal. The conversation was much more lively, but Diane from Seattle started feeling dizzy again, so she and Christine left before dessert. Becky had minestrone for an appetizer, prime rib w/ baked potato for her entree, and the molten chocolate cake for dessert. I had pumpkin soup (which sounds gross but was quite delish), lobster tail and shrimp for my entree, and carmel apples with puff pastry for dessert. As you will see, I did take pic of dessert tonight.

At the end of dinner, it was "showtime." Our wait staff serenaded us, singing "That's amore." It was pretty cute. Here is a picture of our head server, Vernon. His assistant, Gusti, was dancing with a passenger and missed the picture. The other picture is the Maitre d and the Dining manager dancing by our table.

Tonight's towel animal is a puppy. It's super cute. Here's a picture of Becky with our new pet.

The Carnival Legend steered around Cuba a few hours ago. Tomorrow is our first port, Grand Cayman. We're taking the early tender (water taxi) to the port to try to get some shopping in before our excursion. We're swimming with the dolphins! It will be another big day.

p.s. - Tim, you tried to tell me that your mom is a party animal, but she was in bed by 10:30. Some party animal!

Last one so there must be inside corriders and you have to make and effort to go outside? Sorry about the slide, I think I might would do that one though, enjoy every moment!! Beth
